The celebration began a little after noon, albeit with a slight hiccup. Our reservation was delayed by 30 minutes as Sveta arranged space for our large group. However, the staff went above and beyond to make up for the inconvenience by offering us a complimentary round of drinks and dessert. Their hospitality set the tone for what turned out to be a wonderful and joyous event.
Fun was had by all as we enjoyed Sveta’s vibrant and charming ambiance. The restaurant’s eclectic decor, reminiscent of a "Christmas" vibe, added to the celebratory atmosphere. The unique setting proved perfect for our gathering, making it both memorable and special.
Sveta is a standout gem in the heart of the West Village. Co-owned by Sveta and her son, Alan Savchitz, the restaurant reflects their heritage from Kharkiv, Ukraine. Known for its welcoming ambiance and whimsical décor, Sveta provides a delightful backdrop for everything from casual meals to festive occasions.
The menu offers a diverse array of European dishes, with Ukrainian classics presented in a modern style. Popular dishes include Chicken Kyiv, Ukrainian-style sushi with smoked salmon and caviar, handmade pelmeni (veal dumplings), and vareniki (potato dumplings). Sveta’s creative cocktails, like the Dove of Ukraine served in a dove-shaped glass, are also a highlight.
